MIAMI COUNTY MENTORING

Programs

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami County merged with Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami Valley on March 3, 2003. Since that time, we have continued our focus on providing the highest quality Community and School-Based mentoring services for Miami County youth ages 6 years old and up. We serve approximately 100 Miami County youth each year. Together, let's mentor Miami County.

High School Bigs Site-Based Mentoring

Student volunteers, or Bigs, from the high school are professionally matched with elementary school students, or Littles. Bigs and Littles participate in a one-to-one friendship by meeting one hour each week at the Little’s school. During meetings, Bigs and Littles do a variety of fun activities like playing on the playground, playing games, doing BBBS staff led activities, crafts, reading, working on schoolwork, and more. The BBBS program provides the Little with a consistent positive relationship and support them in achieving goals. It’s all about the Big and Little sharing who they are and building a friendship.

Community-Based Mentoring

Bigs and Littles are matched based on similar location, interests, and preferences. They plan their activities together, such as going to a Dragon's game, riding bikes, or trying a new hobby. Often times Bigs tell us they have as much fun as their Little on their outings!
